Waverly High School (1997-2001)
While attending Waverly High School, I spent a lot of time active in the theatre, working on every play and musical for four years. I was trained in the art of set design and construction, set painting, lighting for theatre, and sound reinforcement for live theatre. I quickly became the head student lighting engineer and ended up designing and operating the lighting system for every Band, Orchestra, and Choir Concert, as well as special events, outside rentals, and internal functions and assemblies. It was immediately after high school that I was offered the position of Technical Director, which I accepted, and held for nearly five years.
Michigan State University (2001-2006)
At Michigan State University, I studied initially under Computer Engineering, later my freshman year switching to Computer Science, then finally during my sophomore year changing a third time into Telecommunications. I am a hands-on kind of person, and a career in Telecommunications attracted me. I took courses in Radio, Television, Studio Recording, Network Technology, Computer History, Digital Media Production, and Graphic Design, among many others. By far, the classes I enjoyed the most were the Theatre Department classes I took as a cognate (minor elective) to my Telecommunications degree, such as set designs, lighting designs, or theatre history.
I graduated from Michigan State University in May, 2006, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Telecommunications, Digital Media and the Arts.
More examples of my digital media class work are available in the Multimedia section.
